Fast Cure Polyurethane Sealant

Cures tack free roughly 80% quicker than standard polyurethane. Fast cure polyurethane is a multi purpose high modulus (good for medium movement) polyurethane adhesive sealant with good flexibility and great adhesive properties. It's used for making 'time critical' expansion and weatherproof joints and seals in common construction materials and used as a half sealant, half adhesive. It's often used as sealer in horizontal and vertical butt or fillet joints and used heavily for trafficable joints due to its overall hardness and high abrasion pick resistance.

Also used frequently for sealing gaps and adhering façade and cladding panels, automotive industry applications such as adhering panels together, weatherproofing joints in all masonry substrates, jointing in windows and door frames, expansion joints, trafficable areas like paths and pavements, retaining walls, roofing applications, acoustic rated wall and bonding in window sills, skirting boards, aluminium fabrication etc etc.

It can expand and contract up to 25% of it's width, reduces vibration between panels and hold excellent adhesion properties so it's perfect for joints and seals between same or different building materials. There's a few key areas of focus when determining which fc polyurethane sealant is correct for your job and the differences between brands. 'Shore A Hardness' rating is by far the most useful area to focus on. Fast Cure Poly Sealants generally have a 'shore A hardness rating' of between 30 and 60. FC polyurethanes also come with tensile strength ratings which give you a good overview on how well they will adhere two substrates together, this is displayed on all technical documents and on the chart below in newtons per mm2.

The lower the 'shore A hardness' the softer the polyurethane is, the more pliable and elastic it is, giving it more flexibility and less adhesive. Making it easier to caulk and thus, low 'shore a hardness' polyurethanes are usually used as sealers or joint fillers. High 'shore a hardness' ratings, anything over 30, increase the firmness or hardness of the polyurethane, reducing the elasticity but hugely increasing the adhesion properties and reducing the cure time. Hardness ratings over 30 are generally referred to as FC polyurethane or fast cure polyurethane adhesives.
